Marshall University's Matthew Bell and Morris Duggan Named Semifinalists for 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy

Marshall University's men's soccer team is proud to announce that student-athletes Matthew Bell and Morris Duggan have been named semifinalists for the 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy. This prestigious award is considered one of the highest honors in NCAA Division I soccer, and it recognizes outstanding individual achievements on the field.

Bell, a senior defender, has had an impressive season, registering a pair of goals and a single-season program record 12 assists. He was also named the SBC Offensive and Player of the Year, making him one of the top players in the country. Bell's accomplishments have not gone unnoticed, as he is now one of three finalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy.

Duggan, another senior defender, has been a key player for Marshall University this season. He captained and anchored a defense that recorded 11 shutouts, earning him the league's Defensive Player of the Year award. Duggan was also named first-team all-conference, solidifying his reputation as one of the top defenders in NCAA Division I soccer.

The semifinalists were chosen from a list of 15 nominees, with Marshall University being one of two schools to have multiple players selected. The other finalist is SMU, which also had two players nominated for the award.

The winner of the MAC Hermann Trophy will be announced at a press conference on December 13th, following a vote by NCAA Division I men's soccer coaches. This annual award has been given out since 1967 and is considered the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer.
